Procaine benzylpenicillin
Indications/Uses
Infection caused by gm +ve & gm -ve microorganism susceptible to benzylpenicillin.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 300,000-900,000 u daily in 1-2 divided dose. Childn 10,000 u/kg daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. CHF. Renal impairment. Infant. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Rashes, fever, urticaria, pruritis, anaphylaxis. GI disturbances, glossitis, stomatitis, black 'hairy' tongue, convulsion, coagulation & blood disorder, superinfection.
Drug Interactions
Probenecid, aspirin, phenylbutazone, indomethacin prolong plasma t½ of benzylpenicillin.
